This is my kitty Emmett. I have wanted a little furry animal companion for about 5 years now. I kept waiting until I had just the right job and just the right home to welcome just the right kitty. In August, the stars aligned and I went with my sister and nephews to the Human Society to check out my options. It was completely overwhelming. There were entirely too many cats in one cramped, stinky room. The sick kitties were in dirty cages and all the other kitties on every flat surfaces. I looked up and saw a little orange and white kitty on a ledge with his eyes closed but looking around. I asked if that kitty was blind because he wasn't opening his eyes. They said he just had allergies and he was fine. I picked him up and he immediately nestled into my arms. I have difficulty making decisions, especially in chaotic situations so we decided to leave. All night I kept thinking of that poor little guy who couldn't open his eyes. The next day, I went back to the shelter and got the cat and at the low price of $10 and a free trip to the vet. When I got him home he ran under my bed and was shaking. When I picked him up I realized he smelled exactly like the shelter- which was something like burnt hair and pooh. When I took him to the vet they said he had parasites and a really bad eye infection. He probably would have gone blind if it wasn't treated. After much medication and and a few bathes, Emmett has grown to be a healthy, fluffy, plump, sweetie-pie. He follows me everywhere in the house and demands a nightly game of fetch. I put a little sweater on him and he prances around the place like the dandy he is. I couldn't have asked for a better kitty.
